Hands On Healing Bodywork

Hands On Healing Bodywork is a reinvention of my massage therapy and healing practice in Toronto. I have been practising here on Salt Spring Island since 2004, taking additional training in AyurvedaCranioSacral and Yoga. I have a variety of experience, working with pregnant clients, clients with cancer, clients with serious injuries, whether sports or job related and clients with emotional needs for support.

I have always recognised the need for balance and integration in my own life. Through my own personal beliefs and my studies in MeditationAyurvedaYoga and Massage, I help you to experience unity through open hearted presence and consciousness, as well as deep relaxation and healing through massage and body wisdom. This is a deeply profound experience.

My studio space provides you a place to stop time and connect with your own wellness needs. My training gives me a unique combination of western and eastern philosophies that creates a balance between the worlds, a place where you can come and be deeply moved, physically, emotionally and spiritually. This is a partnership, where, together we create an environment of trust, allowing movement toward optimum healing.

Today I am creating an environment where cooperative healing dynamically unfolds.  Clients come prepared to partner with me and be active in their healing process which is a profound journey.  We move together in partnership to discover a way to unwind themselves, releasing what can be let go, leading toward the goal of ultimate wellness.

There is an inherent wisdom in me, in all of us, actually.  How we access this wisdom is truly irrelevant.  What is relevant is that we access it!  Whether it is through Massage, through CranioSacral, through Reiki, through Therapeutic Touch, layin gon of hands, cleanses, yoga, asana, meditation, walks in the forest, Pranayama.

These are all vehicles to what?

These are all vehicles to our PURE essence. to who/what we are authentically with ourselves.  We are connected to source.  We are ALWAYS connected to source!  How we remove the veils that distance us from our source doesn’t matter, only that we continue to remove them, one veil at a time, slowly with forgiveness and grace.  Let us be open to forgiving ourselves even when we slip back behind a veil, perhaps because fear creeps in and starts to tell us some interesting, albeit, untrue stories.

How to allow all of this to unfold and flow in and through all that I do and say and breathe and speak…

Graduating from Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy in 1998, I began my own massage and healing practice in a small neighbourhood in Toronto.  For 5+ years I supported many clients along their healing journey.  Many of my clients were with me the entire time I practised in Toronto and their family and friends also became regular clients.

It seemed quite sudden when client after client became pregnant and received regular pregnancy massage.  You can understand then that the need for Doula care began during this time in my practice.  I had the great honour of attending many, many of my clients’ births as well as teaching them infant massage each time, after their children came into the world.

This shift occurred primarily because I was having health issues due to stress in the work place and needed to change things for myself.  I needed to be responsible for my own health and wellness!!!  My chiropractor mentioned massage and told me he thought I would be a VERY good massage therapist.  What did I think?  What did I think?  I thought, are you nuts?  I’m a teacher!!!  As it turns out, I’m both.  What  that really means is I deeply care for people and my personal journey here is all about service and caring for others. Massage was the next step in helping people in a different way.

The story continues…
